Geoff Alexander enters his fifth season as an assistant coach at Idaho State University.

Over the past four seasons Alexander has assisted the Bengals to three straight postseason appearances, including advancing to the semifinals of the Big Sky tournament in 2008 and 2009. The Bengals finished fourth overall in the conference each of those two years.

Alexander serves as the recruiting coordinator for the Bengals who have produced strong recruiting classes in each of his three seasons. Under Alexander, ISU has overhauled the roster, finishing in fourth last season in the league with a roster almost entirely of players recruited by Alexander and the staff. Alexander's recruiting ties were instrumental in helping O'Brien bring in the nationally-ranked 2007 recruiting class. The class was ranked 107th among Division I teams and ranked the No. 1 recruiting class among Big Sky conference schools. The 2006 recruiting class consisted of six freshmen, one of the largest freshmen recruiting classes at ISU.

In addition to day-to-day duties he also works with the post players and on scouting reports in preparation for upcoming opponents.

In his first year at ISU working with the post players, Alexander, and his coaching enabled Nick Rhodes to go from 13 total rebounds in the 2005-06 season to leading the Bengals in rebounding with a 7.0 average, including an astounding 19 against Portland State. During the 2008-09 season he helped Lucas Steijn go from a back-up at the beginning of the season to an All-Conference center.

Prior to ISU he spent the previous three seasons at Daytona State College, where he helped the Falcons to a three-year mark of 70-24, including a 25-5 mark in the 2005-06 season and reaching as high as No. 3 in the National Junior College poll. At DSC, the Falcons also won three consecutive Mid-Florida Conference Championships and saw 11 players go on to receive scholarships at Division I programs, including Solomon Jones, who was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks.

Prior to his stint at DSC, Geoff spent one year as assistant coach at Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas. During his time at Jacksonville College, the team finished 17-13 overall and tied for second place in Region 14. He also served as the graduate assistant at Western Illinois University for the Division I Leathernecks during the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons.

Alexander began his collegiate career as a guard at Southeastern Community College where he played under O'Brien before transferring to Western Illinois University where he played his final two years.

He earned his undergraduate degree in physical education from Western Illinois in 2000 and completed his master's degree in physical education from WIU in 2002. Geoff is married to the former Kiersten Coleman and they had their first child, Braelyn, during the 2008-09 season.
