In September 2022, Oliver Good started as Idaho State Men’s Tennis Head Coach. Under Coach Good’s leadership, the past three years have seen Idaho State achieve record breaking seasons year after year.
Most recently the 2024-25 campaign saw the Bengals finish in its highest ever regular season position in program history (2nd). This comes on the back of an outstanding 2023-24 campaign, where Idaho State were nationally ranked (#72) for the first time in program history, became the first Big Sky team to defeat a PAC-12 opponent (defeated reigning PAC-12 Champions Utah) and won its most matches in a single season in 32 years. The foundation for this success came from Coach Good’s first season in charge, where the team reached the Big Sky Conference Semifinals, won six individual titles, and Freshman Valentino De Pellegrin was recognized as Big Sky Freshman of the Year.
The past three seasons have also seen the Bengals excel in the classroom. The 2023-24 year saw the ISU Men’s Tennis team finish with a school high 3.75 team GPA, with all five graduating seniors from 2024 now completing their master’s degrees.
Good came to ISU after serving as the Men’s Tennis Assistant Coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to UNLV, Good coached at the Victorian Tennis Academy in his home country of Australia and served as the Managing Director of The College Recruit from 2017-2021.
Good is no stranger to the Big Sky Conference as he played and graduated from Weber State in 2014. During his senior campaign, Weber State won the 2014 Conference Championship. During this season Good was named team captain and Team Most Valuable Player, while boasting a national doubles ranking as high as No. 43.
"Oliver came highly recommended from coaches throughout the Big Sky Conference," Idaho State Director of Athletics Pauline Thiros said. "His significant recruiting ties, his vast knowledge of the Big Sky, and his passion for the sport and for our student athletes really set him apart from other candidates. We are excited to welcome him as the next leader of Idaho State Men's Tennis."
