Angela Munger begins her third season with Idaho State and her second season as the associate head coach after being promoted following her first season at ISU.

She has helped ISU continuously improve from a fourth place regular season finish in 2009, her first season, to a three-way tie for second place in 2010.  She also helped ISU improve from an 11-win season in 2009 to a 15-win season in 2010. During the 2009-10 season Idaho State made its 12th Big Sky championship appearance.  

In her first year, she helped Idaho State to a fourth place finish in the Big Sky regular season and a near upset of Montana in the Big Sky semifinal tournament game.

Munger serves as ISU’s recruiting coordinator, along with working primarily with the team’s guards. Munger coached guard Jenna Brown who earned Big Sky second team honors and Andrea Videbeck who earned honorable mention.  Munger will also handle scouting, contribute in scheduling, and work on motion offense and certain defensive sets.

She came to Sobolewski’s staff after serving as an assistant coach at Air Force for seven years under Ardie McInelly.  Her responsibilities included scheduling, recruiting, scouting, film breakdown, and equipment.  On the floor, she worked primarily with the Academy’s guards, as well as both offensive and defensive strategies.

Munger had her coaching start at Idaho State as a graduate assistant for the 2000-01 season.  The 2000-01 season included a perfect 16-0 conference record, a 21-game winning streak, ISU’s first ever conference regular season and tournament titles, and ISU’s first trip to the NCAA Tournament.

One of the most popular players in Bengal history, Munger played from 1996-2000 under former coach McInelly, earning first team All-Big Sky honors as a senior and co-team MVP honors at the 2000 Bennion Awards Banquet. She also was a four-year Big Sky All-Academic pick and was second in career steals and fifth in career assists.

Munger twice earned the team’s Most Inspirational Award, in 1997 and 1999, not surprising as Munger was known for her hustle on the court, consistently diving for loose balls and having a motor that basically never stopped.

A native of Hawthorne, Nev., Angela earned a B.S. in biology in 2000 from Idaho State, then a Master’s in athletic administration from Idaho State in 2002.
