  • Title
    Head Coach
Jon Newlee enters his sixth year as head coach of the Idaho State women's basketball team. Newlee has helped rebuild the Bengals over the past five seasons, leading the team to a Big Sky Conference Tournament title, a 2007 NCAA Tournament appearance, a 2006 regular season championship, two postseason Women's National Invitational Tournament appearances, and four-straight Big Sky Tournament semi-final appearances. Newlee heads into his sixth season fresh off of one of the most successful seasons in Idaho State history. Newlee's 2006-07 team finished with an 11-5 conference mark and won the Big Sky Conference Tournament Championship in Missoula, Montana, which culminated in a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history. Under Newlee's watch in 2007, numerous players received honors both on and off the court. Natalie Doma and Andrea Lightfoot were named to multiple All-America teams for their play during the season, and five players received All-Academic honors. Under Newlee last season, Idaho State ranked in the top-10 nationally in free-throw percentage with a 79.9 percent mark. The Bengals also ranked third in the country in scoring offense, putting up 79.5 points per game. ISU ranked third in three-point field goals per game at 8.4. Individually, Doma ranked fifth in the nation in rebounding (12.0) and seventh in scoring (22.1) and was one of only four players to average 20 points and 10 rebounds for the season.
