Adam Nerio

Adam Nerio enters his second season as an Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at Idaho State University for Fall 2024. He comes to Idaho State from San Antonio, TX, where he served as the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at St. Mary’s University from 2019 to 2022.

At St. Mary's, Nerio played a key role in helping the Rattlers earn their first-ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, securing the fifth seed in the South-Central Region for the Fall 2023 season. This followed the team’s first-ever Lone Star Conference (LSC) Tournament semifinal appearance. The Rattlers concluded the season with a 12-5-4 record, one of the best in school history. Nerio helped produce seven All-Conference honorees, including two First-Team selections for the second consecutive year and one player named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South-Central Region Second Team.

Nerio briefly served as the Interim Head Women’s Soccer Coach in 2019, leading the team to its first postseason appearance since 2016 with a spot in the LSC Quarterfinals. The team adapted to a shortened spring season due to the pandemic, finishing with a .500 regular-season record. In Fall 2021, the Rattlers earned their best conference finish since 2010, securing the five seed with a .615 win percentage. Nerio also helped develop the team’s goalkeepers, with two named to the LSC All-Conference team in both the Spring and Fall 2021 seasons.

Before his time at St. Mary's, Nerio served as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. He also spent two years coaching with the New York Red Bulls Youth Training Programs in Westchester, New York, where he trained high-level club teams ranging from U9 to U17 boys and girls, and served as lead trainer for the region.

A San Antonio native, Nerio earned an NCAA DI cross-country scholarship at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he also played for the men's soccer team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science. Nerio went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Public History from St. Mary’s University, where he was named a Distinguished Graduate and received the Presidential Award in 2021 for leadership, service, and academic excellence.

Nerio currently resides in Pocatello, ID, and holds both a USSF "C" Coaching License and a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma.
