Elizabeth Field enters her second season with Idaho State Volleyball, hired in 2023 as an assistant coach. Prior to coming to ISU, she coached U12 and U13 club teams for Empire Volleyball Club between 2021-2024. She also coached the Santa Rosa High School Girls’ Varsity volleyball team in 2023 where, in her first year, she helped guide the team to their first .500 record and first playoff appearance since 2018. She also coached the Healdsburg High Girls’ JV team in 2022.
Field brings knowledge from an extensive playing career to ISU. Before she began coaching, she played professionally as a middle blocker in Europe for six years:
- 2018-2020 LiigaPloki in Pihtipudas, Finland (Field was captain of the 2019-2020 team and helped lead the team to their first ever Finnish Cup Championship win)
- 2017-2018 CS Dinamo in Bucharest, Romania
- 2016-2017 LiigaPloki in Pihtipudas, Finland
- 2015-2016 VT Aurubis in Hamburg, Germany
- 2014-2015 VK Královo Pole in Brno, Czech Republic
Part of what led to the amazing opportunity to play abroad was Field’s time at Wichita State University, where she earned a five year full ride scholarship. She helped her team qualify for the NCAA Division I tournament every year she was on the team (2009- 2013), which included a trip to the Round of 16 in 2012 (perhaps one of Field’s fondest volleyball memories). Additionally, she was part of the team that were the Missouri Valley Regular Season Champions and Tournament Champions back in 2013. At Wichita State, Field ranks 4th all-time in sets played, 8th all-time in attack percentage, 8th all-time in total blocks, and 8th all-time in block assists.
Field holds a MSc. in Sustainability, Energy, and Development from Durham University in the UK and a BA in Chemistry from Wichita State University.
Her favorite color is purple, and her favorite candy is Trader Joe’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups. Nothing beats ‘em!
