Hayley Farrer-Peterson is entering her first season as assistant coach for the Idaho State volleyball team. She is primarily responsible for training and directing the setters, assisting with recruiting and practice planning, scouting and film breakdown, overseeing team academics and other duties as assigned. Farrer-Peterson has also been tasked with working with the SCORE program and ISU nutritionist Natalie Christensen to enhance the program’s nutritional knowledge.

Prior to her current appointment, Farrer-Peterson spent a year as the Student Support Graduate Assistant for ISU’s Department of Athletics in addition to working as a volunteer assistant for ISU’s volleyball program.

In her position as the Student Support Graduate Assistant, Farrer-Peterson was responsible for every aspect of Athletic Study Hall, managing workers, budget, hours and procedures. She was also responsible for developing student-athletes’ class schedules to ensure their enrollment in the correct courses as well as assisting academic advisors in evaluating transcripts, meeting with recruits, advising meeting and degree audits.

As the volunteer assistant coach for the volleyball program, Farrer-Peterson was responsible for assisting with scouting reports, assisting with the development of ISU’s liberos, assisting with the ISU volleyball camp planning in addition to creating and executing practice plans for non-traveling players.

Farrer-Peterson is no stranger to coaching, as she has been active in coaching the Idaho Falls Juniors since 2011. In her coaching experience, she has organized tryouts including what drills to include to help athletes display their abilities and team cohesion. She has also worked to develop different teaching styles and has learned how to adapt to different types of athletes.

Farrer-Peterson has also worked as a camp coach, working under former head coach Chad Tiechert at the Chad Tiechert Volleyball Camps where she had the opportunity to organize and run four-day damps for 30 to 60 athletes. During her time working for the Chad Tiechert Volleyball Camps, Farrer-Peterson was able to create and implement drills for all aspects of volleyball.

A native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Farrer-Peterson is no stranger to Idaho State as she was a standout setter for the ISU volleyball team from 2012-16. Farrer-Peterson was a two-year team captain for the Bengals and finished her career ranked fifth all-time in ISU history in career assists with 3,813 and eighth in career digs with 1,236. She was also named as one of 30 finalists for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award, was a two-time Big Sky All-Academic honoree and a two-time First Team All-Big Sky selection.

Farrer-Peterson graduated with a B.S. in sport management with a physical education emphasis and is set to graduate with her masters in athletic administration in May 2018.
