Sean Carter


Sean Carter enters his fourth season at the helm with Idaho State after being hired on in the summer of 2022. Carter comes to Pocatello after spending the previous eight seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Wichita State. Carter is the 11th head coach in program history.

During his two seasons here at Idaho State, Coach Carter has helped produce 2 All-Conference players as well as the Freshman of the Year in 2022. Carter has brought the Bengals back to the Big Sky Conference Tournament in back to back years, the first time since the 2017-18 seasons.

Carter was recently recognized as a 30 under 30 award winner.

While Carter was in Wichita the Shockers made three NCAA tournament appearances, one appearance in the NIVC, won two Missouri Valley Championships, and one American Athletic Conference Championship. In 2017, Wichita State was a Top 16 seed in NCAA Tournament.

Since 2017 he has been in charge of starting lineups, offensive scouting reports and in-game offensive adjustments. He has also overseen training setters, middles and first contacts.

Prior to his time at Wichita State he  was the first assistant at The Masters College from 2012-2014. While there he coached the 2012 NAIA Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-American.

Carter is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a bachelors in psychology. He played on the Arizona Club team and competed in USAV Adult Nationals. He was a libero at CSU Northridge from 2006-08.
