Pickering Earns First Player of the Week Honors

Senior guard posted a team-high 15 points against Air Force and Texas Tech

OGDEN, Utah – Senior guard Chelsea Pickering earned her first Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honor for games played the week of Nov. 15-21 when Idaho State hosted Air Force and played at Texas Tech. 

 

Pickering averaged 15 points, five rebounds and two assists as Idaho State split the week with a 68-58 victory at home over Air Force and a 64-52 loss at Texas Tech.  She scored a team-high 15 points in both contests.  Pickering finished the week shooting 12-of-27 from the field and 4-of-8 from the arc. 

 

Pickering's 15 points against Air Force came from a 7-of-15 effort from the field in 37 minutes while pulling down four rebounds and two assists.  She helped ISU improve to a six-game home win streak dating back to February of last season.

 

In her home state Pickering shined leading the Bengals with 15 point in 25 minutes against Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.  The Lumberton, Texas native hit 5-of-12 from the field, 3-of-4 form the arc and 2-of-2 from the line while posting six rebounds and two assists. 

 

The player of the week honor is Idaho State's first of the season.  Forward Oana Iacovita was the last Bengal to earn player of the week honors garnering three during the 2009-10 season.
