POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Athletic Department has announced that it will redesign and resurface the court in Reed Gym thanks to a contribution from Idaho Central Credit Union.
“We appreciate Idaho Central's donation to help us improve the student-athlete experience at Idaho State,” Idaho State Athletic Director,
Jeff Tingey said. “This project will not only benefit our student-athletes but it will benefit our entire campus and community.”
Kent Oram, President of Idaho Central Credit Union added, “We are a proud member of the local community and enjoy supporting ISU. We employ more than 125 ISU graduates and serve just under 27,000 ICCU members in five Eastern Idaho branches. We know many of those members are loyal ISU supporters and our contribution makes the experience of attending events at Reed Gym more enjoyable as well as safer for the student-athletes, some of whom could end up as ICCU employees!”
Work on the new court begins Monday, December 12 and the ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Friday, December 30, at the women's basketball game against Great Falls.
"Our entire program is excited about the changes that will be made to the Idaho Central Credit Union Court in Reed Gym,” Idaho State women's basketball coach
Seton Sobolewski said, “We would like to thank the generosity of Idaho Central Credit Union and everyone who is making the new court possible. Our new floor along with our new locker room make us an even more enticing program to recruits."
The new court will benefit the entire campus as it will be used for volleyball, men's and women's basketball, as well as PE classes and intramurals.
“It's wonderful to have such a supportive community on our side,” ISU Head Volleyball Coach
Chad Teichert said. “I am very appreciative to see the support to our athletics programs here at Idaho State.”
United Services Inc., based out of Idaho Falls, will design the court. United Services Inc. also designed the ICCU Court in Holt Arena that was installed last year. The current finish on the court is over 15 years old.
As a result of the installation, the women's basketball games on Monday, December 19 and Wednesday, December 21 will be played in Holt Arena. Ticket holders for those games will be able to use their tickets at Holt and all seats are general admission. Season ticket holders with reserved seating will be seated in sections DD, EE, FF and GG at Holt Arena.
