Spring Football Starts Today

All spring practices will be held in Holt Arena.

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State Athletics began a new era in the Bengal football program with the hire of Mike Kramer as the program's new head coach. Kramer was hired on Nov. 22. Kramer is one of the most successful coaches in Big Sky football history as his 77 wins ranks fourth all-time in conference history.

Kramer Announces Assistant Coaches
Mike Kramer hired Don Bailey as his Associate Head Coach, offensive coordinator and quarterback coach,. Craig Stutzmann was brought on to coach the wide receivers, Mike Rigell running backs, Derrick Roche offensive line and Matt Troxel tight ends.  On the defensive side, Todd Bates will coach the defensive line, Rudy Griffin inside linebackers, Ryan Smaha outside linebackers and Daniel Drayton defensive backs.

Dave Kragthorpe
The annual spring football game has been named after former Bengal coach Dave Kragthorpe who guided ISU to the 1981 National Championship. Kragthorpe currently lives in Logan and regularly comes back to Pocatello for ISU games.

2011 Signees
Mike Kramer announced his first signing class on Feb. 1, signing 17 high school or junior college athletes. Three of the signees (Austin Graves, DL, Kevin Yost, QB and Jarrod Daniels, WR, enrolled in school at the semester break. Joining the team in August is Cameron Richmond (WR), Derek Graves (WR), Donovan Henley (DB), Jim Bagley (OL), Justin Arias (QB), Derek Berry (LB), Brad Kragthorpe (QB), Ed Pritchett (DB), Kyle Jones (OL/DL), Ben Heimuli (LB), Demetrious Allen (LB), Tyler Graves (DL), Colin Andrus (OL) and Anthony Boyles (WR). Jones, Heimuli and Andrus will serve LDS Missions before enrolling in school in 2014.

 Bengal Day
The Idaho State football team will meet the public on April 22 from 4-6 p.m. on the field at Holt Arena. The players will be available to sign autographs and throw the football with fans that come.

 New Turf at Holt Arena
Idaho State Director of Athletics Jeff Tingey has announced that Holt Arena will be getting new field turf thanks to the sponsorship of ISU Credit Union. The turf will be installed in July of this year. The new turf is currently undergoing the required bid process for the state of Idaho.
