POCATELLO, Idaho- Â A seven run sixth inning by Idaho State sparked the Bengals to a 10-5 victory of DePaul on Saturday evening. The Bengals trailed 4-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning but home runs from
Hailey Breakwell,
Dara Kolar and
Vicky Galasso sparked ISU to the victory.
Later in the evening, ISU lost 4-1 to UNLV.
Idaho State 10 DePaul 5Sophie Slagle earned the complete-game win, allowing five runs, nine hits, three walks and one strikeout.
Galasso finished the game three-for-four with five RBIs and two home runs.
Sarah Hayes was two-for-three and
Hailey Breakwell was two-for-four. Â ISU had 11 hits in the game and committed no errors.
Idaho State took advantage of two DePaul errors in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Kacie Burnett reached base on an error and
Micheala Taylor followed with a single, setting up Galasso's two-run double to left-center.
DePaul scored a run in the second and Galasso homered to left field in the third to give the Bengals a 3-1 lead.
DePaul added a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead but ISU quickly responded in the bottom of the sixth with the seven run inning. The scoring started on a Breakwell home run to tie the game at four. Kolar then drilled a two-run blast to center field to put the Bengals back on top 6-4.
ISU's final two runs of the game came on Galasso's second homer of the game, a two-run blast and a DePaul fielding error.
UNLV 4 Idaho State 1Idaho State managed a first inning run by
Kacie Burnett but UNLV scored a run in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Ashlyn Ames took the loss, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing six hits, three runs but only one earned.
UNLV committed three errors but ISU committed two in the fifth inning, allowing the Rebels to take the lead.
Galasso and Marquez all had two hits for the Bengals while Breakwell was three-for-three
Idaho State closes out play at UNLV with a 12:15 p.m. (MDT) against Louisiana Monroe.
