Don Bailey enters his fourth year as the associate head coach, quarterback coach  and offensive coordinator at Idaho State. Bailey has proven to be one of the most innovative offensive coaches in the country as players at every school he has coached at have set school and conference records.

In Bailey's three seasons in Pocatello he has been the mastermind of the offensive records that have been broken at Idaho State.

In 2013, quarterback Justin Arias completed the second most passes in program history (322), the most passing attempts (574) and threw for the third most yards (3,547). Bailey was also instrumental in revitalizing the Bengal running game in 2013. ISU rushed for 1,130 yards, the most since the 2007 season.

Quarterback Kevin Yost set the ISU single-season record for completions in 2012 with 349, beating his previous record he set of 300 in 2011. The 649 competions ranks third in ISU history. Yost left ISU ranked third in passing yards (6,663) and sixth in touchdowns with 39. Yost's 47 completions against Northern Colorado in 2011 was a school record.

Wide receiver Rodrick Rumble earned four All-American honors in 2011 along with being name to the first-team All-Big Sky team in 2011 and 2012. Rumble set a school and Big Sky record in receptions with 112 and he had the second most receiving yards in Bengal history with 1,348. Rumble finished his senior season as the top receiver in ISU and Big Sky history as he caught 223 passes for 2,863 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career. The 223 receptions ranks sixth in Big Sky history. In 2012, the Idaho State offense set Big Sky Conference records in completions (370) and attempts (586). The 33.6 completions a game was also a Big Sky and ISU record.

Before coming to Idaho State Bailey was the passing game coordinator, quarterbacks and wide receiver coach at South Dakota State. He coached Ryan Berry, a first-team Missouri Valley Conference member who led the league in passing with 3,106 yards and 30 touchdowns. Berry set single season South Dakota State records for most completions, yards and attempts. By the end of the 2008 season the SDSU offense had set nine offensive records.

In 2008 Bailey also coached Jaron Harris who earned first-team all-conference honors, leading the Jacks with 70 catches for 966 yards and 11 touchdowns. Glen Fox earned second-team all-conference honors with 66 catches for 792 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Prior to coaching at South Dakota State, Bailey coached the wide receivers from July 2007 to March 2008 at Weber State. He was responsible for tutoring Bryant Eteuati, a first-team all-conference honoree as wide receiver and kick returner and led the nation in all-purpose yards with 207.6 a contest,

Bailey was the offensive coordinator, quarterback and wide receivers coach under Kramer at Montana State where he helped guide the Bobcats to conference championships in 2002, 2003 and 2005. He coached Travis Lulay, a four-year starter at quarterback who ranks second-all-time in the Big Sky for total offense with 12,205 yards. He is the Bobcats all-time leading passer with 10,746 yards and 58 touchdowns. Lulay also rushed for 1,459 yards in his career with 23 touchdowns. He is a three-time all- conference selection. The former MSU quarterback ranked second in the nation in total offense in 2004 and ninth in 2005. He also had four receivers earn all-conference honors.

During Bailey’s time at Montana State his offensive teams’ broke a total of 109 offensive records, individual and team since 2001. On the receiving side, Bailey coached Junior Adams, Aaron Hill, Scott Turnquist and Rick Gatewood to all conference selections. Adams ranks sixth all-time for receptions at Montana State while Turnquist ranks third all-time for yardage. Gatewood ranks fifth all-time at MSU in receptions and yards.

Bailey also spent time at Cal Poly as the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks and receivers coach where he coached Seth Burford, who was drafted in the sixth round by the San Diego Chargers. In 2000, Burford was sixth in the nation in passing efficiency, and set the single-season total offense record. Receiver Kassim Osgood garnered first-team all-American honors in 2000 as he set the single-season receptions and yardage record.

The Bengal offensive coordinator coached at Shepherd College and Cheyney University. Bailey coached on Pokey’s Allen’s staff at Portland State form 1991-93 and at Boise State from 1993-96. In 1994, Bailey was a part of the Bronco team that was on the national championship. Wide receiver Ryan Ikebe became the all-time leader in receiving yards and second all-time in receptions at 169.

While coaching at Portland State, Bailey was a part of a team that went to the playoffs each year.
