Bengal Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to New Mexico State

Las Cruces, NM--Emily Waldron and Nikki Havens each registered 10 kills, but it wasn't enough as Idaho State dropped a 3-0 decision to New Mexico State Friday morning at the Hilton Las Cruces Classic.

New Mexico State won in three straight games, defeating the Bengals 18-30, 27-30, and 20-30. The loss drops the Bengals to 3-7 overall on the season, while New Mexico State improves to a perfect 8-0

Waldron was notable at the net, collecting 10 kills on 34 attacks with only one error for a .265 hitting percentage. Havens' 10 kills came on 24 attacks and six errors. Jessica Gurney, Karli Maughan, and Christine Collette rounded out the attack at the net with two kills each.

Collette led the offensive attack for ISU, tallying 15 assists, while Waldron and Bri Beal fronted ISU defensively with nine digs each. Ashlyn McDowell had an impressive performance on the defensive side of the net, recording a career-high seven blocks.

As a team, ISU recorded a .074 attack percentage while New Mexico State connected on a .210 mark. The Aggies registered 11 team blocks to ISU's eight.

Idaho State will continue play at the Hilton Las Cruces Classic this afternoon when the team takes on Akron at 4 p.m. The Bengals will close out the tournament on Saturday against San Diego at 11:30 a.m.
