Tempe, AZ--Idaho State dropped both of its games at the Littlewood Classic on Saturday, falling 5-0 to North Carolina and 15-4 to No. 2 Arizona State at Farrington Stadium. The Bengals fall to 0-8 on the season, while the Tar Heels improve to 4-4 and ASU to 12-0.
In the first game of the day, Idaho State gave up just five runs against ACC foe North Carolina. The Bengals gave up two runs in the first inning, and one each in the second, fourth, and fifth.
Heather Dixon, Amanda Stachowsky, and Shanna Schmitz each recorded one of ISU's three hits in the game. Lindsay Boughton hurled four innings for ISU, giving up just six hits with one strikeout. Dixon also recorded a pair of innings, registering two strikeouts with one earned run.
The Bengals then took on the second-ranked team in the nation in the nightcap, falling 15-4 to Arizona State.
ISU's Kaylie Neal and Merissa Jannsen each went 1-2 from the plate with a run scored in the loss. Christine Shollenberger recorded the only other hit of the night for the Bengals.
Kandis Clesson and Schmitz were the other two Bengals to cross the plate in the game against ASU.
Boughton also pitched 2.2 innings against the Sun Devils, hurling four strikeouts with 12 earned runs. Dixon closed the game with two strikouts and three earned runs.
ISU wraps up play at the Classic on Sunday against Iowa. Opening pitch is set to take place at noon.
