Meridian, ID --- The Idaho State golf team shot a 340 during the first round of the Bronco Fall Invitational on Monday at SpurWing Country Club in Meridian, placing the Bengals in 12th heading into the second and final day of competition Tuesday.

Two rounds of 18 holes apiece were scheduled for Monday, but early morning frost prohibited the players from getting on the golf course until later in the morning. As such, the tournament has been shortened from 54 holes to 36, with the second round to be played Tuesday.

Santa Clara led after one round, firing a six-over-par score of 294. Big Sky foe Portland State is in fourth, with fellow conference opponents Weber State (9th), Montana State (10th) and Montana (11th) just ahead of Idaho State on the leaderboard.

Sophomore Kylie Smith shot an eight-over 80 Monday, putting her in a tie for 34th place. Katie Phillips fired an 83 to come in tied for 49th, Alysia Hall's 88 was good for 66th, Sadie Venn's 89 placed her 67th, and Amanda Hendricks shot a 93 to come in 69th after the first day of play.
