Golf Finishes 12th In Loaded Field At Bronco Fall Invitational

Meridian, ID --- The Idaho State golf team fired a second-round total of 328, leaving them in 12th place at the conclusion of the Bronco Fall Invitational at SpurWing Country Club in Meridian. The Bengals' two-round total of 668 was 30 strokes behind 11th place Montana's 638.

The Bengals did manage to trim 12 shots off of Monday's first-round score of 340. The tournament was originally scheduled for three rounds, with two to be played Monday, but forst kept players off the course till mid-morning, forcing a reduction to just 36 holes. The tournament ended with a four-way tie for lowest team score, with Wyoming winning thanks to the fifth-player tiebreaker. The other three teams knotted for the lead were Santa Clara, UC Riverside and host Boise State. Santa Clara's Miki Ueoka shot a 4-under 140 to win the tournament by two shots over UC Riverside's Jennifer Bermingham.

Junior Katie Phillips led ISU's second-day scoring, firing an 8-over 80 to finish with 163 strokes for the tournament and earning her a tie for 46th place. Senior Alysia Hall turned in the Bengals' best round, shooting a 79 to finish at 167 and in a tie for 58th. Kylie Smith, the Bengals' best player on the first day, fired a 168 for the tournament to tie for 62nd. Sadie Venn (T-65th, 170) and Amanda Hendricks (69th, 182) were ISU's other shooters.

The Bengals are now off until Nov. 3 and 4, when they travel to Arroyo Grande, Caif., to compete in Cal Poly's Women's Invitational.
