Idaho State Wraps Up Fall Season With 19th Place Finish

Arroyo Grande, CA --- The Idaho State women's golf team concluded its 2008 spring campaign with a 19th-place finish at the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational on Tues., Nov. 4, at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif.

The Bengals added 19 shots to their first-round score from Monday, finishing with a 681 overall. That was nine shots behind Southern Utah, whom the Bengals led by one shot heading into Tuesday.

San Jose State won the overall team title, shooting a 598 to defeat Big Sky Conference squad Sacramento State by 12 shots. Xavier's Mary Beth McKenna won the individual title with a one-under 143, finishing three shots ahead of UC-Riverside Jennifer Bermingham and San Jose State's Cristina Corpus.

Scores were up overall, as 13 of the top 20 players fired a higher score on Tuesday than they did in Monday's first round. The same thing applied to four of ISU's five players, with Kylie Smith being the only exception, following a first-round 84 with a second-round 80. Her total score of 164 earned her a tie for 64th. Junior Katie Phillips, the Bengals' first-round leader, followed her Monday 80 with an 86 on Tuesday, finishing tied for 69th overall.

Senior Alysia Hall finished tied for 96th with a 175, sophomore Sadie Venn shot a two-day score of 177 to finish tied for 99th, and freshman Amanda Hendricks fired a 182 to claim 103rd.

The Bengals are off until Feb. 28, 2009, when they play in the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz.
