Kaysville, UT--- The Idaho State women's golf team finished fourth at the Weber State Quadrangular meet on Friday at Davis Park Golf Course, as three of the five golfers finished among the top 13 in the field.
The Bengals shot a 325, 41 strokes over par and 20 shots behind event winner Weber State. Utah Valley finished second at 311, with Southern Utah taking third, just three shots ahead of the Bengals at 322.
Sophomore Kylie Smith was just three shots behind the leaders after the first nine holes, but shot a 41 on the back nine to finish tied for 11th. Junior Katie Phillips and sophomore Sadie Venn were part of a five-way tie for 13th place as both carded an 80. Senior Alysia Hall finished tied for 23rd with an 86, and freshman Amanda Hendricks fired an 89 to finish 27th.
Idaho State head coach Dave Molitor said his team played well during its first event, and that he thought the team was playing at the same level now that it was at at the end of the 2007-08 season.
The Bengals' next tournament is the Bulldog-Eagle Invitational on Sept. 22-23 in Post Falls, Idaho.
