Post Falls, ID -- The Idaho State women's golf team finished 14th at the Bulldogs and Eagles Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at The Links Golf Club in Post Falls, Idaho.

The Bengals finished with 1,010 shots, a single stroke behind 13th place Utah Valley. Idaho State led the Wolverines by nine shots coming into the second bay, but UVU fired a third-round 327, 10 strokes better than ISU's 337.

Sophomore Kylie Smith was ISU's lowest scorer for the second time in as many events this season. Her Tuesday score of 78 was the Bengals' lowest of the tournament and only the second round to break 80. She finished with a three-day total of 239, tying for 29th place.

Junior Katie Phillips, who trailed Smith by one shot after Monday's two rounds, shot a third-round 84 and finished tied for 44th with a 246. Senior Alysia Hall fired a 257 to finished tied for 69th, sophomore Sadie Venn's 268 was good for 77th, and freshman Amanda Hendricks shot a 303 to finish 90th.

Portland State won the event, shooting a second-day 302 to finish with a score of 921. That was six shots better than Cal Poly's 927, and nine shots better than third-place and co-host school Gonzaga.

Other Big Sky teams in the field were co-host Eastern Washington (4th, 936), Montana (8th, 958) and Montana State (11th, 971).

The weather co-operated with the teams Tuesday, unlike Monday, where rain began before noon and eventually kept the golfers off the course for an hour.

The Bengals are back in action Oct. 13-14 at the Bronco Fall Invitational in Boise.
