South Bend, IN --- Notre Dame came out of the gates in the second half with a 25-7 run to open up a three-point game at the half into a 21-point advantage, and ISU chipped away but ended falling to the former #23 team in the nation 80-70 in front of 8,033 fans at the Joyce Center on Notre Dame's campus.

ISU couldn't stop Luke Harangody, who entered the game averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds, and got his numbers with 27 points and 12 boards. With the Irish up just three at the half, Harangody scored nine points in the opening salvo, including a three-pointer, his second of the game, to give Notre Dame a 65-44 lead. Harangody had his 53rd double-double and his first basket was his 2,000th point, making him the first play in Notre Dame history to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Idaho State stayed in it early behind a big half from Demetrius Monroe, who scored 12 of his career-high 18 points in the first period. The Bengals went into the break down just five after Donnie Carson hit a jumper with 5.0 seconds left.

The Bengals were able to shoot .510 from the field against one of the top defenses in the nation, but they were outrebounded 31-23. ISU also hit 6-of-13 three-pointers, including a 4-for-6 effort from Austin Kilpatrick, who has hit 29 threes in his last 11 games. ISU was hampered in the second half by turnovers, as they suffered eight after just three in the first half.

Along with Monroe, Kilpatrick and Broderick Gilchrest each had 12 points. ISU passes the ball efficiently again, recording 16 assists, five by Gilchrest. Aside from Harangody, only Ben Hansbrough, Tyler's younger brother, hit double figures with 14 points.

Notre Dame shot .552 from the field in the game, and .429 from the three. Idaho State now heads home for a day before traveling out on the road again, this time in the Mountain Time zone for a Saturday night tip in Salt Lake City against the University of Utah.

NOTES: Todd Starks scored his first career basket, a three from the corner in the final minute, and then he also had his first assist ... Monroe was 8-of-9 from the field ... there were 12 lead changes in the game.
