St. George, UT --- Sophomore Kylie Smith fired the two lowest rounds of the Bengals' young Spring 2009 season, following a first-round 80 with a second-round 83 on Tuesday to sit in a tie for 47th place after Day One at the Dixie Classic at Entrada at Snow Canyon.

Smith's total of 163 has her tied with Florida's Lauren Uzelatz, who followed a first round of 2-over 74 with a 17-over score of 89 in the second round.

As a team, Idaho State sits in 15th place, 16 shots back of 13th place Southern Utah and Utah Valley. The Bengals were 22 strokes back after the first round, but picked up shots on both SUU and UVU, as well as 12th place Weber State, with a solid second round. The University of Denver leads after the first two rounds, holding a whopping 28-stroke advantage over second place Colorado State.

Senior Ally Hall turned in twin rounds of 86 to earn a tie for 68th place with a 172 overall. Junior Katie Phillips is in 76th after firing a two-round total of 177, sophomore Sadie Venn is tied for 77th with a 180, and freshman Amanda Hendricks shots a 192 and is tied for 80th.

All five Bengals begin the third and final round of action at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
