St. George, Utah --- Katie Phillips posted Idaho State's best single round of the season Wednesday, as the Bengals golf squad finished 15th at the Dixie Classic, held Tuesday and Wednesday at Entrada at Snow Canyon in St. George.

Phillips' third-round total of four-over 76 is two shots better than the 78s posted by both Phillips and Kylie Smith during the fall season. It was a 10-shot improvement over Phillips' second-round score, and vaulted her into a tie for 63rd place with an overall score of 253.

As a squad, the Bengals totaled a 348 on Wednesday, finishing with a three-round total of 1,040 strokes, 24 behind 14th place Utah Valley. The University of Denver won the team competition with a total of 877, and Denver's Dawn Shockley won the individual title, shooting a round of two-under par to finish at even-par 216 for the tournament.

Kylie Smith was Idaho State's top overall finisher, shooting back-to-back rounds of 83 to finish at 246 and tied for 52nd place. Alysia Hall finished tied for 73rd with 269 shots, Sadie Venn was 75th at 272, and Amanda Hendricks finished 79th at 292.

Idaho State has two tournaments remaining this spring. The next event is the Cowgirl Classic, hosted by Wyoming on April 6-7 in Chandler, Ariz.
