“I saw too many errors and sometimes when we make too many errors it's hard to overcome those errors and get back on track,” Idaho State head coach
Chad Teichert said. “You have to give WSU some credit, however. They really proved themselves tonight and proved that you can't look past anyone in the conference. I don't think we looked past them but we just made too many errors.”
Setter Lori Mendenhall posted 38 assists during the match while libero Kylee Searle recorded 20 digs. As a team, the Bengals notched eight team blocks led by
Vanessa Muir, who recorded one solo block and four assisted blocks. Muir also helped the Bengal offense as she recorded 15 kills on the night.
“Vanessa overall had a very good match,” Teichert said. “After the first two games I realized she was hitting over .400.”
Muir ended the match with a hitting percentage of .357.
The Bengals struggled on the offensive side of the ball, posting just a .127 hitting percentage in the match. The Wildcats edged ISU slightly with a .222 hitting percentage and posted 19.5 team blocks. Dama Cox led the Wildcats with 14 kills. The Wildcats broke a four-match losing streak to the Bengals with the 3-1 win tonight.
“We've got to learn from our mistakes and compete on every play and take that into tomorrow night's match,” Teichert said.
The Bengals return to Pocatello tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 28 to take on CSU Bakersfield in hopes of breaking the team's three-match losing streak. The match begins at 7 p.m. at Reed Gym.
