POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State (7-4) had five players score in double digits as the Bengals rolled past Oklahoma Panhandle State (2-10) 90-48 Monday night in Holt Arena. Junior forward Taylor Floyd led Idaho State with a season-high 20 points. Floyd also recorded six rebounds and two assists.

Junior forward Ashleigh Vella recorded 12 points, six rebounds, eight assists, one block and one steal against the Aggies while sophomore forward Cydney Horton posted 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal.

“I thought our post players, Jessa Jeppesen, Jessica Jensen and Cydney Horton, did a nice job of catching the ball and finishing,” ISU Head Coach Seton Sobolewski said. “We only took two three-point shots and I think that shows a lot of discipline on the part of our players to not take bad shots and keep moving the ball.”

As a whole, Idaho State picked up its largest margin of victory this season, outscoring OPSU by 42 points, which ties for 11th all-time in the program's largest margin of victory records. The Bengals shot 42-73 from the floor and outrebounded the Aggies 52-31. ISU posted 74 points in the paint and the bench outscored the Aggies 56-24.

“This game provided a great opportunity to give some of our other players some more experience,” Sobolewski said. “It's good to be able to get Sheryl [Bitter] out there more and to give Taylor [Floyd], Jessica [Jensen] and Rebecca [Schrimpsher] some reps and some more experience.”

Idaho State's defense shut down an OPSU offense that was averaging more than 90 points per game coming into this competition. The Bengals held OPSU to a 25.4 shooting percentage and allowed just 8-31 from beyond the arc. ISU forced 17 turnovers and converted 24 points off turnovers.

Floyd had an outstanding performance in the first half for ISU with 16 points and three rebounds. As a team, the Bengals shot 23-38 in the half and notched 42 points in the paint alone for a 50-31 halftime score.

In the second half, Jensen attacked the Aggies at the block scoring 12 points and pulling down four rebounds. ISU went on an 8-0 run at the 14:00 mark off some key plays down on the block to build a 28-point lead at 70-42. OPSU's Camille Washington hit a pair of free throws to bring the Aggies back to within 26 but ISU went 20-4 after that to close out the game 90-48.
