Bengals Host NAU Saturday

Fans can buy one ticket and get one free.

Game Notes

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State (7-16, 3-8) continues its quest to earn a berth in the Big Sky Tournament when it plays host to Northern Arizona (14-9, 6-5) on Saturday at 7 p.m. at ICCU Court in Holt Arena. Saturday's game is “Date Night” as fans  can buy a ticket at regular price ($16) and get one ticket free.

Idaho State leads the overall series 47-40. The Bengals won in Pocatello last year, 73-71 in overtime. ISU's last loss to NAU at home was Feb. 1, 2007, a 102-98 double overtime defeat. In the most recent meeting NAU beat ISU 82-80 in overtime in Flagstaff on Jan. 6. Cam Jones led NAU with 37 points. Idaho State shot 52.6 percent from the field in the contest.

Cam Jones leads NAU in scoring at 19.1 points a game. He is scoring 20.5 points a game in Big Sky play. NAU is scoring 72.1 points a game and shooting 48.7 percent from the field. Shane Johannsen is shooting 73.6 percent from the field. Johannsen is the team's top rebounder at 6.2  a game.

Offensive Bests in Portland
In the win at Portland State Idaho State had season-highes for points (84), field goals made (32), and field goals attempted (67).  Chase Grabau also had a career-high 16 points and Phyllip Taylor had a career-best seven assists.

Taking Care of the Rock
In the Bengals win at Portland State they had a season-low seven turnovers. ISU also had seven turnovers at Creighton. In the last 12 games, ISU is averaging 12.3 turnovers a game. In the first 11 games of the season ISU averaged 15.4 turnovers with a season-high of 23 at Iowa.

Block Party
Deividas Busma's eight blocks against Montana State was a career-high and a Big Sky season-best mark.  His eight blocks is the most since Slim Millien had eight blocks on Feb. 25, 2006 vs. Weber State. No other Bengal player has had eight blocks in a game. Busma currently has 80 blocks and ranks seventh in ISU history for most blocks. He needs six to pass Jim Potter (1991-95) to move into sixth place. Busma ranks 50 in the NCAA in blocks this season.

Bracket buster Opponent Announced

On Jan. 31 it was announced that Idaho State would host Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 19 in the bracketbuster game in Reed Gym at 4 p.m. This is the first bracket buster game the Bengals have participated in. Cal State Fullerton is a member of the Big West Conference and is currently 8-14 and 4-5 in conference play. This will be the eighth meeting between the two schools. Idaho State leads the overall series 4-3. The last time the two teams played was in the 2002-03 season where ISU won 79-70 on Dec. 14 at Fullerton and 74-66 in Pocatello on Jan. 14, 2003.

Following the men's game the Idaho State women play host to Montana at 7 p.m. Fans that come for the men's game can stay and watch the women's game for free. Tickets for the game at $16 for adults and $8 for kids and seniors.
