Game Notes
POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team opens the 2011 season by playing five games in a tournament at Arizona State. The Bengals face Iowa, Illinois State twice, Seattle and Arizona State in three days.
Bengals vs. Iowa
This is the third meeting between Idaho State and Iowa. Iowa leads the series 2-0 winning 10-4 on Feb. 18, 2007 and 4-1 on Feb. 13, 2009. Both games were played on a neutral field.
Bengals vs. Illinois State
The series between the two schools is tied at 1-1. Both games were played on a neutral field with ISU winning 10-5 on Feb. 13, 2009 and losing 13-0 on Feb. 16, 2007.
Bengals vs. Seattle
Idaho State leads the overall series 5-3. All eight meetings have come in the last two years. In 2009 ISU won three of four games and in 2010 the two teams split a four-game series.
Bengals vs. Arizona State
Arizona State leads the series 4-0. The two teams have played three times since 2007. In the most recent meeting, ISU lost 8-4 in Tempe on March 5, 2010. In 2009, ASU won 10-1 and in 2007 ASU won 15-4. In the first-ever meeting the Bengals dropped a 11-0 decision on May 5, 1979.
Bengals Start New in 2011
The Idaho State softball team is getting a new look and it's not just the new uniforms the team will be sporting this season. The change started for the Bengals in July of 2010 when
Julie Wright was hired as coach and later brought on Jessica Rogers to be her assistant. The team will be in a new locker room this year and on April 16 the Bengals will play the program's first-ever game in their new on campus facility, Miller Ranch Stadium.
