Game Notes
POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State (6-16, 2-8) returns to the road for a contest at Portland State (11-12, 4-7). The game can be heard live on 930 KSEI with
Jerry Miller Calling the action. ISU then returns home to play host to Northern Arizona on Saturday at 7 p.m. at ICCU Court in Holt Arena.
Portland State leads the overall series 25-14. In the last 12 meetings Idaho State is 2-10 against the Vikings. Last year in Portland, the Bengals lost 98-63.
Charles Odum leads the Vikings in scoring at 14.3 points a game and he is shooting 52.9 percent from the field. Chris Harriel is scoring 14 points a game and Portland State is scoring 72.3 points a contest and shooting 43.8 percent from the field.
Taking Care of the Rock
In the last 11 games ISU is only averaging 12.7 turnovers a game. During this stretch the Bengals turned it over a low eight times vs. Montana. ISU turned it over a high of 17 times vs. Montana State. In the first 11 games of the season ISU averaged 15.4 turnovers with a season-low seven turnovers at Creighton and a season-high 23 turnovers at Iowa.
Block Party
Deividas Busma's eight blocks against Montana State was a career-high and a Big Sky season-best mark. His eight blocks is the most since Slim Millien had eight blocks on Feb. 25. 06 vs. Weber State. No other Bengal player has had eight blocks in a game. Busma currently has 79blocks and ranks seventh in ISU history for most blocks. He needs seven to pass Jim Potter (1991-95) to move into sixth place. Busma ranks 50 in the NCAA in blocks this season.
NCAA RPI Update
Idaho State has played three opponents with an RPI of 100 or less. Arizona currently boasts an RPI of 16 while Utah State is 25 and Colorado 87. Montana is next at 106, while Creighton is 136, Northern Colorado 147, Weber State 155, Northern Arizona 161, Western Michigan 197, South Dakota State 221, Montana State 223, Cal State Bakersfield 295, Cal State Fullerton 296, Eastern Washington 309 and Sacramento State 338. The Bengals currently have an RPI of 312.
Big Sky Season Bests
Broderick Gilchrest's 39 points at Colorado remains a season-best out of all Big Sky players. His 39 points is the 20th best scoring performance in a game in Idaho State history. Kevin Winford from Eastern Washington also scored 39 against NH Christian early in the year. David Busma's five blocked shots against Troy ties for the third best single-game mark this season. Busma has the best free throw percentage in the conference at 1.000 (11-for-11) while
Kenny McGowen has the best free throw percentage (.846) out of all Big Sky juniors.
Deividas Busma's eight blocks against Montana State is a Big Sky season best mark.
