Nate Gross captured singles victories in Idaho State's 5-2 loss at Weber State Tuesday afternoon. It is the second time this season G. Azevedo and Gross have been the only Bengals to capture singles victories overcoming their opponents in straight sets.
G. Azevedo demolished his opponent Peter Ramstromer Pello 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 position for the Bengals' first singles contest at the spot. Gross improved to 3-1 for the season in singles contests when he defeated Ciao Poitena 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.
Freshman
Diego Cavalcanti captured the first set against Weber State's Landon Barlow but fell in a tiebreaker in the second set. With momentum leaning toward the Wildcat Barlow pulled out a 10-7 third set tiebreaker over Cavalcanti for the match.
The dual match was a non-conference contest where Weber State improved to 1-7 for the season and 1-1 in conference play while Idaho State fell to 0-4 for the season and 0-2 in league action.
The Bengals will continue their travels as they head to Las Vegas, Nev. to play UNLV on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. The men will also play UC Riverside at UNLV the following day at 10:00 a.m.
