LAS VEGAS – Idaho State broke a two-match losing streak by defeating Seattle 4-3 on Friday morning at the Darling Tennis Center in the first match of a doubleheader contests. Sophomore
Colton Pate captured a three set win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Zachary Williams at the No. 6 to win the deciding match point
Idaho State opened the contest by winning two of the three doubles matches at the No. 1 and 2 spots for the doubles point.
Diego Cavalcanti and
Dakota Pate defeated Jordan Prince and David Kovas 8-6 at the No. 1 spot while
Nate Gross and C. Pate overcame Williams and Matt Overland 8-2 at the No. 2 positions.
Cavalcanti took Overland to a tie breaker in the first set and prevailed 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in the Bengals first contest at the No. 2 position. Gross ran through Prince 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 4 position improving his record to 5-4 at the spot for the season.
The Bengals finish their double header with a simultaneous match against Seattle at 1:30 p.m. at the Darling Tennis Center.
