Laura Porras and
Rilee Moorhead captured singles victories in Idaho State's 5-2 loss at Portland State in the Bengals final Big Sky match of the season Wednesday afternoon at the Club Green Meadows. Moorhead swept both her doubles and singles contests.
"Rilee and Laura really stepped up their play today. They came in with tough attitudes and stuck to their games. They played very well," said Head Coach

Risa Fujiwara captured an 8-2 doubles victory over Nayanatara Vadali and Marina Todd at the No. 2 spot. The Bengals fell at the No. 1 and 3 positions giving Portland State a 1-0 lead.
Portland State would win the first three singles matches to hand the Vikings the victory in their last match of the season. Sophomore
Rachel Ryan fell first, 6-1, 6-1 to Caitlin Stocking at the No. 5 spot followed by junior Fujiwara who was overcome 6-0, 6-0 by Marti Pellicano at the No. 4 spot.
Katharina Marsela put up a fight in the second set but was overcome 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 position by Yuki Sugiyama giving the Vikings their fourth point to decide the match.
The Bengals earned the next two points when Porras dominated Nayanatara Vadali 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot improving her singles record to 9-6 for the season. Moorhead defeated Anya Dalkin 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 2 spot.
Zamira Vasquez took the first set against Marina Todd 6-4 before falling 6-3 in the second set. Vasquez held a 7-2 lead in the tiebreaker before Todd overtook the Bengal 11-9 at the No. 6 spot.
The Bengals fell to 3-12 for the season and 0-8 in league play while Portland State improved to 6-12 overall and 3-5 in Big Sky matches.
Idaho State canceled its match against Utah State on Tuesday, April 19 due to travel constraints for the Portland State dual match. The Bengals will reschedule the match next week but has yet to be locked down.
