Vella also recorded five rebounds and one assist while Reed added four rebounds, three assists and one steal. Junior guard

Cydney Horton led ISU with six rebounds.
Overall the Bengals shot extremely well from the field, connecting with 29 of 55 for a 52.7 shooting percentage. Idaho State was also hot from the three-point line, connecting with 10 shots throughout the game for a 66.7 shooting percentage from the trey. Idaho State outrebounded SAC 44-26.
“We set a couple of goals for this game that we came very close to achieving,” Sobolewski said. “You can't really ask for more than that. We shot the ball extremely well, especially in the first half. We did a nice job on the boards too. Sacramento State is leading the conference in offensive rebounds and we held them to just nine and we had 11. I was very happy with the bench production and was really nice to get some people out there and keep our starters around 26 minutes so they are fresh for Portland State.”
The Idaho State defense held strong as ISU held Sacramento State to a 33.9 shooting percentage from the field and 28.6 from beyond the arc. Sacramento State came into the competition averaging 73.5 points per game and were held to just 57 today. ISU had five steals, one block and forced nine Hornet turnovers.
In the first half, Idaho State allowed just 10 Sacramento State field goals with just four coming from inside three-point range. The Hornets shot 32.3 percent from the field while ISU shot 58.6 and 77.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Bengals started a scoring streak early in the first half as the team hit its first five shots from the three-point line. Idaho State went into the locker room at the half with a lot of breathing room, leading Sacramento state 48-30.
The Bengals now prepare for an exciting match-up on Monday against Portland State, the team selected first in both the coaches and media preseason polls. The Vikings are 3-1 in conference play after defeating Northern Colorado 62-61 on Jan. 12.
