GREELEY, Colo.- The Idaho State Football team lost to Northern Colorado 52-14 on Saturday afternoon at Nottingham Field.
Rodrick Rumble surpassed Merrill Hoge for third with 186 receptions in Idaho State Football history with his seven receptions for 96 yards. Idaho State is now 1-6 and 0-4 in the Big Sky Conference and Northern Colorado improved to 2-5 and 1-3.
Kevin Yost was 29 for 46 with 344 yards, two touchdown and two interceptions. Despite the loss the play of Yost impressed Nothern Colorado coach Earnest Collins.
“When you play a team like that they can put some points on the board quick, fast and in a hurry and we did a good job against that quarterback," Collins said. "I've been coaching for 18 years and I've never seen a quarterback as tough as that kid is. That kid is accurate and he's tough and last year we had to hit him like 20 times and he just kept coming back.”
Cam Richmond caught six balls for 94 yards and one touchdown.
Aaron Prier caught five balls for 61 yards and
Josh Hill caught four balls for 39 yards and one touchdown.
Taison Manu lead the Bengals with ten tackles for the day.
Cameron Gupton and
Trevor Spence both had eight tackles each.
Mitch Beckstead ended the game with seven tackles.
The first Bengals touchdown came in the second quarter off a 41-yard reception by Cam Richmond from Yost. Idaho State scored its second touchdown in the third with a one-yard reception by Hill from Yost.
The Bengals travel to play Montana on Oct. 27 at 1:30.
