SOBOLEWSKI VS. BOISE STATE AND MOUNTAIN WEST

Seton Sobolewski is 1-4 against the Broncos during his career at ISU. Sobolewski defeated BSU last season on Nov. 17, 2011 in a 84-75 final, breaking his three-game losing streak to the Broncos. Sobolewski is 3-7 against current Mountain West teams. After defeating Air Force Saturday, he is now 2-0 against the Falcons. Sobolewski is 1-4 against Boise State, 0-1 against New Mexico and 0-2 against Wyoming.
BENGALS RANKED IN MID-MAJOR POLL
Idaho State is ranked No. 21 in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Basketball Mid-Major Top 25 poll. ISU finished the 2011-12 season at No. 22. Idaho State is the only Big Sky school ranked or receiving votes. Delaware (Colonial Conference) is No. 1 with 30 first-place votes. The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.
VELLA CLOSING IN ON 1,000TH POINT
With 991 total career points, senior forward
Ashleigh Vella is just nine points away from breaking the 1,000 career-point barrier, a mark she will more than likely hit during ISU's contest with Boise State. If Vella hits 1,000 career points whe will be the 15th ISU player to hit the mark. The Melbourne, Australia native has averaged 10.4 points per game throughout her career as a Bengal. She has also tallied 570 total rebounds, 183 assists and 54 blocks at ISU.
HORTON DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Junior forward
Cydney Horton recorded her first double-double of the 2012-13 season and the fourth of her career Saturday against Air Force as she posted a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Horton recorded three double-doubles during the 2011-12 season. With four career double-doubles, Horton has the second most career double-doubles for current players behind senior forward
Ashleigh Vella who has six. Senior
Jessa Jeppesen has one that she recorded last season and junior guard
Lindsey Reed has one she recorded during the 2010-11 season.
BENGALS TOP PRESEASON POLLS
The Idaho State women's basketball team has been selected to defend its Big Sky Conference title in both the coaches and media polls. The Bengals finished with 97 points and eight first-place votes in the coaches poll while the team earned 154 total points with eight first-place votes in the media poll.
OAKES NAMED SENIOR CLASS AWARD CANDIDATE
Senior guard
Kaela Oakes has been selected as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. Oakes is one of 30 candidates selected and is the second straight ISU women's basketball player to earn the honor after
Chelsea Pickering was selected as a candidate last season.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
Last season, Oakes helped lead Idaho State to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007. Oakes averaged 11.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She was selected Big Sky All-Conference First Team, was named to the Big Sky All-Tournament Team and named team MVP.
ABOUT BOISE STATE
Boise State is 3-0 on the season and 1-0 at home after defeating North Dakota 80-61. Senior forward Lauren Lenhardt leads the Broncos, as she is currently the only Mountain West player to average a double-double with 17.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. As a team, the Broncos are averaging 76.7 points and allowing 60 points per game. BSU has already defeated two Big Sky teams this season with wins over North Dakota and Weber State. Boise State is 189-138 against current members of the Big Sky.
SERIES INFO AND LAST MEETING WITH THE BRONCOS
Boise State leads the series 43-18. Idaho State broke an eight-game losing streak to BSU after defeating the Broncos 84-75 last season.
Jessa Jeppesen recorded a double-double and led the Bengals with a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds.
Lindsey Reed posted 18 points as well as seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Ashleigh Vella recorded 17 points with seven rebounds, seven assists and one steal.
Kaela Oakes put up 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. ISU's last win at Boise State came on Dec. 21, 2002 when the Bengals defeated BSU 63-49.
