POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State volleyball team is back in a tie for first place in the Big Sky Conference after the Bengals defeated Montana State 3-0 Saturday night at Reed Gym. The Bengals downed the Bobcats (14-10, 8-8) in straight sets (25-14, 25-13, 25-22) as ISU improved to 20-5 overall and 14-2 in Big Sky action. Portland State lost to Northern Arizona 3-1 Saturday night giving the Vikings a 14-2 conference record as well.
The win gave ISU its 20
th victory of the season, making this season the first 20-win campaign since the 2003 season.
The Bengals had another strong defensive showing, posting nine total blocks and holding the Bobcats to a .032 attack percentage. Redshirt senior middle blocker led ISU with four blocks on the evening while sophomore Whitney Bartschi and senior outside hitter
Breanne Van Every each had three. Redshirt sophomore Kylee Searle led the dig effort with 12 on the evening.

Tressa Lyman led the Bengals offensively with 10 kills apiece. Van Every boasted a team-high .368 attack percentage. Junior setter Lori Mendenhall led in assists with 40 for the contest.
“We had a lot of really great digs and played really solid volleyball most of the time,” ISU Head Coach
Chad Teichert said. “It is so easy when you play so well to have a little bit of a let up and in that third set I think we let up a bit and they cranked it up a bit. They were more focused and did a little better on the attack and the block. They are a talented team and I think this coaching staff has done a great job with them. They are certainly a team you can't overlook.”
Idaho State splits time on the road and at home next week. The Bengals travel to Ogden, Utah Wednesday, Nov. 7 to face the Weber State Wildcats at 7 p.m., before returning to Pocatello for the final home game of the season against Sacramento State Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
