CHENEY, Wash. – Idaho State dropped a match against Eastern Washington Saturday. The Bengals fell to the Eagles 7-0 in Cheney, Wash. The Bengals are now 1-1 in conference play while the Eagles improve to 2-0 in Big Sky action and 5-2 overall.
In doubles play, senior
Dakota Pate and freshman Krzyzstof Stempien lost to EWU's Chad Henniger and Julian Sanchez 8-6 at the No. 3 position.
Charles Norman and
Austin Miller lost to Ilija Cuic and Kyle Koetje 8-3 at the No. 1 spot while
Nate Gross and
Dan Buckingham dropped a match to Mario Navarro and James Russell at the No. 2 position.
In singles action,
Charles Norman played in a close match against Cuic at the No. 1 spot but ultimately dropped the contest 7-6 (7-2), 6-0. Stempien lost a match at the No. 2 spot 6-3, 6-4 to Russell while Gross was defeated by Navarro 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Buckingham, Pate and Miller also lost their matches at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions respectively.
The Bengals return to Pocatello for a contest against the University of Nevada Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Reed Gym indoor courts. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
