POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team concluded play in the Louisville Slugger Classic, at UNLV, on Sunday with a 6-2 loss to Ohio State and a 10-4 loss to San Jose State.
Becky Simonsen led Idaho State offensively by going 4-for-8 in the two games with one RBI.
Against Ohio State, the Buckeyes scored all six runs in the first inning.
Kelsi Ott started the game and pitched the first two innings and
Haley Douglas pitched the final five innings, allowing only four hits, two walks and striking out two.
The Bengals scored their two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to a two-RBI double by
Vicky Galasso. The Bengals had six hits in the game while Ohio State finished with eight.
Against, San Jose State, Simonsen went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Idaho State had four hits while the Spartans scored their 10 runs on 20 hits.
Idaho State scored two runs in the second and fifth innings while SJSU had three runs in the second, sixth in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Idaho State returns to the field this weekend, Feb. 24-26, for a tournament at UC Riverside where it will face Illinois-Chicago, South Dakota and UC Riverside.
