LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Idaho State men's tennis team kept its winning streak alive as the squad defeated Western New Mexico 4-3 Saturday in Las Vegas. The men's tennis squad has now won four matches straight, the longest winning streak for the men's tennis team since the 2003-04 season.
In Saturday's match, Western New Mexico took the doubles point, but ISU rallied back to win four of the singles matches and win the contest.
Junior
Nate Gross expanded on his success in Friday's match-up by winning the No. 2 singles 7-5, 6-4. Freshman
Krzysztof Stempien won the No. 3 singles in a hard-fought battle 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. Freshman
Austin Miller earned ISU its third point with a win at the No. 5 spot while freshman
Andres Coello sealed the victory for the Bengals with a 5-7, 6-1, 7-5 victory at the No. 6 spot.
The Idaho State women's tennis team took on Drake today. Idaho State fell to the Bulldogs 7-0. Seniors
Laura Porras and
Katharina Marsela played a hard-fought doubles match at the No. 1 position, falling 9-7. Freshman
Marian Tangarife played in a close contest at the No. 4 singles, falling to Abuilera 7-5, 6-3.
The Idaho State women face San Jose State tomorrow in Las Vegas at 10 a.m. while the men take a day off before facing UC Riverside Monday, March 26 at the Las Vegas tournament at 8 a.m.
