Men’s Tennis Loses Close Contest with UC Riverside

Idaho State fell to UC Riverside 4-3

Junior Nate Gross won the No. 2 doubles with teammate senior Dan Buckingham is ISU's 4-3 loss to UC Riverside Monday.

LAS VEGAS, Nev.
– The Idaho State men's tennis team fell to UC Riverside Monday in a 4-3 decision. The Bengals won the doubles point before losing four singles matches.
 
Junior Nate Gross and senior Dan Buckingham won the No. 2 doubles in a close contest, defeating Luis Gastao and Kevin Griffin 9-8. Idaho State won the doubles point as senior Dakota Pate and freshman Krzysztof Stempien won 8-6 over UC Riverside's Simon Peters and Jimmy Roberts.
 
UC Riverside rallied back to win the singles matches at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 spots. Freshman Austin Miller won at the No. 5 position with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Kelly Dickson while fellow freshman Andres Coello defeated Peters 6-4, 6-2.
 
The Idaho State men compete again Friday, March 30 at 1 p.m. in a conference match-up against Montana State. The women compete again Tuesday, March 27 against Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah at 2 p.m. The women are on a three-match losing streak after falling to Seattle, Drake and San Jose State last weekend.
