POCATELLO, Idaho – Senior
Laura Porras improved to 6-6 on the season in singles play Friday with a win at the No. 2 position against Montana State's Wena Tsan. Porras defeated Tsan in two sets, 6-4, 6-3 in her the final home match of her career at Idaho State. The Bengals dropped the match to Montana State 5-2.
“Laura is just tough as nails in the singles,” ISU Head Coach
Bobby Goeltz said. “She had the best record on the team last year and she is right in there again this year. She'll battle anybody. I think winning today was big deal for her. She is such a great blend of a competitor on the court as well as in the classroom.”
Freshman
Marian Tangarife also notched a win during the day, defeating MSU's Ellie Crum in two sets 7-6, 6-4 at the No. 4 position. Tangarife improves to 4-9 on the season in singles action. Tangarife also earned a win in doubles actions as she and teammate senior
Rilee Moorhead won the No. 2 doubles 8-6 over Andrea De La Torre and Gabi Villegas. The duo improved to 4-9 in doubles play on the season.
The Bengals fall to 4-10 on the season and 1-5 in Big Sky action while the Bobcats improve to 5-8 overall and 3-1 in Big Sky play.
The Idaho State women compete next at Eastern Washington on Wednesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. MST.
