POCATELLO, Idaho – Two freshmen posted victories in Saturday's match against Montana.
Krzysztof Stempien defeated Montana's Andrew Warren at the No. 3 while
Andres Coello took the No. 6 doubles over Andreas Luczak.
Stempien lost his first set 6-2 before coming back in the second set to win 7-6 and then winning the super tie breaker 15-13.
Coello won his first set to Luczak 6-4 before losing the second set 2-6. Coello then came back to win the super tie break 10-6.
Idaho State lost the match 5-2 and falls to 7-9 on the season and 4-2 in Big Sky action. Montana improves to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in the Big Sky.
“I think it was tough to have to face Montana State and Montana back-to-back but you have to schedule the matches when you can get them,” ISU Head Coach
Bobby Goeltz said. “Montana was fresh and they are a very good team. We are still 4-2 on the season and that is a big improvement for us. We will have to see how we do in the last few matches.”
The Bengals have two conference matches remaining and return to action Wednesday, April 3 against Weber State in Ogden, Utah. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
