POCATELLO, Idaho – ISU Head Coach
Chad Teichert released the 2012 women's volleyball schedule Friday.
The Bengals open the season with a tournament at UTEP beginning Friday, Aug. 24 and running through Saturday, Aug. 25. At the tournament ISU face UTEP, Fresno State and Arizona State.
The team then travels to Portland, Ore., for the University of Portland tournament Friday, Aug. 31-Saturday, Sept. 1. The Bengals face the University of Portland at 11 a.m. Friday and UNLV at 5 p.m. On Saturday, ISU takes on Tennessee State at 5 p.m.
The Bengals close the preseason with a trip to New York to participate in the St. John's tournament Friday, Sept. 7-Saturday, Sept. 8. ISU opens up play against St. Francis on Friday at 5 p.m. and faces Fairleigh Dickinson at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Bengals play St. John's Saturday at 3 p.m.
Idaho State opens Big Sky Conference play with a four-game home stand beginning Friday, Sept. 14 against Northern Arizona at 7 p.m. ISU will also host conference newcomer Southern Utah Saturday, Sept. 15, Northern Colorado Friday, Sept. 21 and conference addition North Dakota Saturday, Sept. 22.
It will be the first time ISU has faced SUU since Nov. 7, 1988 with SUU was Southern Utah State College. ISU is 1-2 against SUU all-time and won the last meeting between the two schools 3-0. The contest against North Dakota will be the first meeting between the two programs.
The Bengals then hit the road again to take on Montana State and Montana. ISU faces the Bobcats Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. followed by the Griz Saturday, Sept. 29.
ISU bounces back and forth between Reed Gym and the road for the remainder of the season as the Bengals host Weber State Wednesday, Oct. 3 before travelling to Sacramento State for a match-up Friday, Oct. 5.
The Bengals return home for two games, facing Portland State Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. and Eastern Washington Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. before hitting the road for four straight road games. ISU faces SUU Thursday, Oct. 18 and Northern Arizona Saturday, Oct. 20. The Bengals face North Dakota Thursday, Oct. 25 and Northern Colorado Saturday, Oct. 27.
ISU then returns home to host Montana and Montana State on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday Nov. 3 respectively.
The Bengals then take a quick trip to Ogden, Utah Wednesday, Nov. 7 to face Weber State before returning to Reed Gym for the final home game of the season against Sacramento State on Friday, Nov. 9.
ISU closes the regular season on the road with match-ups against Eastern Washington Thursday, Nov. 15 and Portland State Saturday, Nov. 17.
