POCATELLO, Idaho – Senior forward
Rachel Strawn scored ISU's lone goal in Wednesday's exhibition match-up with Walla Walla Community College. The Roy, Utah native also had a team-leading four shots with two on goal.
Strawn scored her goal at the 42:53 mark after regaining the possession of the ball from a defender and beating WWCC's goalie in a one-on-one situation.
The Warriors, coming off their third straight NWAACC title and ninth straight NWAACC East Region Championship, did not let ISU's goal deter them and scored early in the second half to even the score.
“WWCC is a program that is going to recruit players who will eventually go on to play Division I and Division II ball,” ISU Head Coach
Allison Gibson said. “I told the players that this was not going to be a game against a JC team, it would be more like a Division I or Division II match-up. I told them that this team would give us a good game and they did. I think that's exactly what we really needed before getting into the games that count this weekend.”
While ISU kept the ball in WWCC territory for most of the second half, the Bengals were unable to score again.
Overall ISU outshot WWCC 24-5 and had 10 shots on goal to the Warriors' two. Fifteen ISU players, including Strawn, recorded at least one shot during the contest. Junior midfielder
