BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bengals tried to make a late comeback Friday night against Montana State, dropping the match 3-2 in Bozeman, Mont. ISU trailed the Bobcats 2-0 at the half and came out after the break, taking the third and fourth set. Montana State rallied to take the fifth with a 15-12 final. ISU falls to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play while MSU improves to 9-4 and 3-2.
“I think overall we played pretty well,” ISU Head Coach
Chad Teichert said. “Montana State is a good team. What we needed was a better start. It wasn't a terrible start, but it wasn't good enough. We needed to block, dig and attack just a little bit better. Now we need to move forward, adjust our goals and prepare for our game tomorrow.”

Jaclyn Hone-Hawkins posted 14 kills and 20 digs on the night. Hone-Hawkins also posted an impressive .481 attack percentage as well as five assists, two service aces and a team-high five blocks.
Senior
Breanne Van Every recorded 10 kills and 15 digs for her double-double. Van Every also posted one service ace and four blocks.
Junior setter Lori Mendenhall posted 56 assists and 14 digs as well as four kills, two service aces and one block.
Sophomore outside hitter Alydia Fields and redshirt freshman
Tressa Lyman led ISU with 16 kills each. Fields posted a .345 attack percentage for the night.
The Bengals out-blocked the Bobcats 12-11.5 during the match. Montana State had 69 kills to ISU's 65 and the Bobcats posted an overall .234 attack percentage, slightly edging ISU with a .212 attack percentage.
Idaho State dropped the first two sets 25-21 and 25-23 before coming out in the third set to win 25-21. The Bengals won the fourth set 25-22 to send the match into a fifth set.
The Bengals continue their road trip Saturday in Missoula, Mont., with a contest against the University of Montana at 7 p.m.
