MISSOULA, Mont. – Senior outside hitter
Breanne Van Every recorded a double-double in Saturday night's contest against Montana. Van Every posted 11 kills with 16 digs as well as four assists, two service aces and one block in ISU's 3-2 win. The Bengals improve to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in Big Sky action while UM falls to 3-12 and 1-5.
“Getting a split anywhere in the conference is hard to do,” ISU Head Coach
Chad Teichert said. “If you could get a split on every road trip, you'd be in a pretty good position. UM is a good team and they played solid ball. It's not easy to win on the road and after getting the loss last night, our team showed a lot of character to get the win tonight.”
Junior setter Lori Mendenhall also recorded a double-double with 54 assists in the contest and 18 digs. Mendenhall also posted one service ace, four kills and one block.
Redshirt freshman outside hitter
Tressa Lyman led ISU with a game-high 20 kills. Lyman also tallied two service aces, nine digs and four blocks.
Redshirt senior
Jaclyn Hone-Hawkins and sophomore Alydia Fields also recorded double-figure digs in the contest. Hone-Hawkins recorded 11 kills as well as three assists, nine digs and a team-high six blocks. Fields posted 14 kills, one service ace, eight digs and one block.
Like the team did with Montana State, ISU dropped its first two sets to the Griz 25-23 and 25-22. The Bengals came out after the half, however, and took the next three sets to claim the match. The Bengals won the third set 25-18 and the fourth 25-21. In the deciding match, the Bengals won 15-12.
Idaho State's next contest is against Weber State at home in Reed Gym Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
