OGDEN, Utah – Idaho State won its second straight Big Sky match-up moving to a 3-3 league record and 8-7 overall.
 
Senior guard Kaela Oakes led the Bengals with a season-high 17 points. Oakes went 6-8 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from 3-point range. Oakes also pulled down four rebounds and notched one assist and two steals in the contest.
 
Senior forward Ashleigh Vella was right behind Oakes in scoring as she recorded 16, tying her season-high for the second straight contest as she put down 16 against Southern Utah last week. Vella hit two 3-point shots and pulled down six rebounds while posting a season-high seven assists.
 
Senior forward Jessa Jeppesen also scored in double digits against the Wildcats, netting 10 with six rebounds and one assist.
 
Senior guard Abyee Maracigan led in rebounds, pulling down nine on the evening. Maracigan also posted five points, three assists and two steals.
 
Junior forward Jessica Jensen scored her first bucket of the season in the second half while redshirt freshman Justine Joudrey and junior transfer Alissa Willard netted their first points as Bengals against WSU. Joudrey finished the contest with seven points in just six minutes of action.
 
Overall, Idaho State shot 44.1 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from beyond the arc. ISU continued to shoot well from the free throw line, hitting 9-11 for an 81.8 shot percentage.
 
Defensively, ISU held WSU to a 30.4 shot percentage and out-rebounded the Wildcats 44-34. ISU scored 19 points off of 12 WSU turnovers. ISU's bench outscored WSU 21-12.
 
Oakes and Vella led Idaho State in the first half with 10 points apiece. The Bengals shot 35.5 percent during the half and held the Wildcats to a 25.8 shot percentage. The Bengals led the entire half and extended their lead to 15 when junior guard Kara Jenkins sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to put ISU up 34-19 at the end of the half.
 
The Wildcats have now lost 34 straight contests stretching back to the 2011-12 season. WSU falls to 0-15 overall and 0-6 in Big Sky play this season.
 
Idaho State stays on the road for the remainder of the week with contests against Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. The Bengals take on the Hornets Thursday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. before facing Northern Arizona Saturday, Jan. 19 at 6:35 p.m.
