Bengals Continue Road Trip; Play at Montana State on Saturday

POCATELLO, Idaho- After a stretch of playing five of six games at home, the Idaho State men's basketball team is in the middle of a stretch of playing five of six conference games on the road. The road trip continues on Saturday, at Montana State. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. and it can be heard live on 102.5 KMGI and 930 KSEI with Jerry Miller calling the action. This is the 182nd meeting with the Bobcats.

Montana State leads the series 101-80. The two teams split the series last year, with each team winning on the road. ISU won 87-86 in Bozeman and the Bobcats won, 73-69 in Pocatello.  Montana is 8-9 and 5-4 in Big Sky Conference play. The Bobcats are scoring 73.4 points a game and 73.1 in Big Sky games. Christian Moon leads MSU offensively with a 15.3 points per game average and 14.6 in conference. Montana State is shooting .423 percent from the field.

Idaho State lost 70-51 at first-place Montana on Thursday night. Neveij Walters had a career-high 12 points while Melvin Morgan had 10 in the loss. The Bengals led 31-29 at halftime but struggled offensively in the second half, shooting 5-for-23 from the field.

Season High's for Sanchez
Tomas Sanchez had a career-high 22 points in the Bengals win over Sacramento State on January 17. He is the team's best shooter as he is shooting .460 percent from the field overall and .486 percent in Big Sky Conference play. From the 3-point line, the Bengal guard is shooting .434 overall and .438 in league play. In Sanchez' last five games he has appeared in he is shooting 480 from the field, .520 from the 3-point line (13-for-25) and had 19 assists to 12 turnovers while netting 13.6 points a game.

Conference Play = Improved Numbers in Scoring
Since the start of Big Sky Conference play, the scoring has improved individually and as a team. In nonconference games Melvin Morgan averaged 11.7 points and that average is up to 12.2 in league. Chris Hansen averaged 10 and that has improved to 11.6  while Tomas Sanchez averaged 8.9 points in nonleague games and is scoring 12.2 in Big Sky contests. Andre Hatchett has improved his average from 5.7 points to 7.9 points and Neveij Walters averaged three points in non league games and 6.3 is league. As a team ISU scored 48.4 points a game in nonconference contests and in Big Sky games that average jumps to 57.3.

Individual Bengal Bites
- Tomas Sanchez: Scored in double figures in five of last six games. Loss at Montana broke the double-figuring streak. Played 31 minutes or more in all but three games.
- Melvin Morgan: Scored in double figures in five of last six games (eight points vs. Weber State).
- Andre Hatchett- Hit second 3-pointer of the season at Montana.
- Jakub Kusmieruk: Played two minutes at Montana, first action since 12/13/2012 at Cal State Fullerton.
- Chris Hansen: Only player on the team to make a 3-pointer in every game this season.Scored 194 points this season.
- Nnamdi Ezenwa: Six straight games of playing 12 minutes or more.
- Neveij Walters: Played 14 minutes or more in all by one game.
