Reed Leads ISU in 64-59 Loss to North Dakota

Junior guard Lindsey Reed scored 16 second-half points and led ISU with 18 total points against North Dakota Thursday.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Junior guard Lindsey Reed led Idaho State with 18 points as the Bengals fell to UND 64-59 Thursday night. Reed posted 16 of Idaho State's 35 second-half points. She also had three rebounds, one assist and a steal in the contest. She went 7-19 from the field and 3-8 from 3-point range in 39 minutes of play. ISU falls to 6-6 on the season and 1-2 in Big Sky play while North Dakota improves to 6-6 and 1-2 in conference action.
 
Senior guard Kaela Oakes and senior forward Jessa Jeppesen also posted double-digit scoring performances as Oakes notched 11 and Jeppesen scored 10, with eight coming in the second half alone. Jeppesen also led ISU in rebounding pulling down eight in just 21 minutes of play.
 
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half with ISU going 29.6 percent from the floor and UND going 9-25 for a 36.0 shooting percentage. Both teams shot 25 percent from 3-point range. ISU went into the locker room at the half with a narrow three-point lead.
 
In the second half, ISU extended its lead to eight before a shooting slump led to an 11-0 UND run to put North Dakota back in the game.
 
ISU shot considerably better in the half, hitting 14-35 in the half for a 40.0 shooting percentage but as good as ISU shot, UND did better, shooting 48 percent in the half and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Overall, ISU shot 35.5 percent while UND went 21-50 for a 42.0 shooting percentage in the contest. ISU outrebounded UND 40-39.
 
ISU forced 15 turnovers and the Bengals converted 13 points off those UND errors.
 
The Bengals look to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday as ISU takes on Northern Colorado at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion at 2:05 p.m.
