Bengal Volleyball Hosts Big Sky Leader North Dakota and Northern Colorado

BENGAL OVERVIEW
Idaho State volleyball is home again this weekend to host Big Sky leader North Dakota and Northern Colorado. Earlier this season, the Bengals topped returning champion Northern Colorado in three sets and loss 3-1 to No. 1 North Dakota.

Last weekend, Idaho State topped Southern Utah in three sets on Friday and lost 3-2 to No. 2 Northern Arizona.

AGAINST SOUTHERN UTAH
Idaho State swept Southern Utah on Friday, Oct. 25. The Bengals posted a .240 attack percentage compared to Southern Utah's .188. Alydia Fields-Grimm led in kills with seven.

Kylee Sessions posted a career-best five aces, including four of the last five serves in the first set.

Southern Utah out-blocked Idaho State 9-5. Southern Utah has out-blocked their opponents at 15 games this season.

AGAINST NORTHERN ARIZONA
Idaho State and Northern Arizona battled to five games on Saturday, Oct. 26 with the Lumberjacks ending on top with a 16-14 deciding set. The Bengals easily won the first two sets 25-14 and 25-18. Northern Arizona won the third and fourth 25-20 and 26-24.

The Bengals edged out the Lumberjacks in attack percentage with .368 compared to .345. Idaho State was out-blocked 17-10.

Four Bengals - Makenzie Filer, Sommer Reeder, Tressa Lyman and Marissa Todd - all posted double-figure kills. Lyman, Hayley Farrer and Kylee Sessions all posted double-figure digs. Lori Mendenhall-Lee set a career-best with 73 assists.

ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA
Big Sky leading North Dakota holds an 11-1 Big Sky record, losing their only game in a sweep to Northern Arizona on Oct. 18. Last weekend, they topped both Montana and Montana State in three games.

North Dakota's Lisa Parlich leads the conference in attack percentage with .402. Nikki Husfeldt ranks second in the conference for assists with 10.75 per set. As a team, they ranks first in attack percentage with .260 and first in kills with 13.77 per set.

ABOUT NORTHERN COLORADO    
The  Bengals take on the 9-13 (5-7 BSC) Northern Colorado on Friday, Nov. 2. Earlier this season, the Bengals topped four-time defending Big Sky Champion Bear in three sets in Greeley.

Last weekend, Northern Colorado swept Montana State on Thursday but lost a five-game battle to Montana on Saturday.

Northern Colorado leads the conference in digs with 15.30 per set. Merideth Johnson leads individuals in digs with 5.01 per set. Ashley Guthrie ranks third, first amongst freshman, in assists with 10.65.

LORI MENDENHALL-LEE
Senior Lori Mendenhall-Lee was named Bengal Athlete of the Week for her performances against Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.

Against Southern Utah, Mendenhall-Lee posted 35 assists, six digs and four kills. She had a career night against Northern Arizona with 73 assists, second most in a single game in program history.

Mendenhall-Lee has posted 3,716 assists in her career, fourth best in program history. In 2012, she posted 1,297 assists, eighth-best all-time. She ranks second all-time for her 2012 hitting percentage of .366.

She leads the conference in assist with 905 on the season and an average of 11.04 per set. She ranks 33rd in the nation.

TRESSA LYMAN
Sophomore Tressa Lyman led the Bengals in kills against Northern Arizona with 22 kills on 47 attempts with only three errors for an attack percentage of .404. She also posted 11 digs and three blocks.

Lyman ranks second in the conference for kills with 302 on the season and an average of 3.64 per set.

MAKENZIE FILER
Sophomore Makenzie Filer posted 20 kills on 34 attempt with five errors against Northern Arizona for an attack percentage of .441. Her season attack percentage of .385 is an Idaho State record. She also posted three blocks.

Filer ranks second in the conference for attack percentage and 10th for blocks with an average of 1.06 per set.

CHAD TEICHERT
With 52 career Big Sky wins, Head Coach Chad Teichert has set the Idaho State record for most Big Sky wins in program history. With 92 career wins, Teichert eyes 100 career wins before the end of the season.

JoAnn Garavaglia holds the record for most career wins with 110 from 1975-1980. The 2012 Bengals rank third all-time for most wins in the single season with 23, the record stands at 31 in 1987.
