2012 MVP Mendenhall-Lee Plays Last Home Games this Week

Matches against Eastern Washington on Thursday and Portland State on Saturday are set for 7 p.m.

BENGAL OVERVIEW

Idaho State volleyball preps to wrap-up regular season play this Thursday against Eastern Washington and Saturday against top-ranked Portland State. This weekend marks the final home games for 2012 Big Sky Regular Season MVP Lori Mendenhall-Lee. The team honors her on Senior Day prior to the Portland State game on Nov. 23.

Following Nov. 21's match against Eastern Washington, the Bengals are signing autographs in Reed Gym.

Last week, the Bengals clinched their spot in the Big Sky tournament hosted by Portland State with wins over Weber State at home and Sacramento State on the road. Also in the tournament are North Dakota, Portland State, Northern Arizona and Montana. Sacramento State (9-8 BSC) and Northern Colorado (8-10 BSC) are in the hunt for the final spot.

AGAINST WEBER STATE
The Bengals swept Weber State at home last Wednesday posting a .314 attack percentage, 35 kills on 70 attempts with 13 errors. Weber State posted a .000 attack percentage with 23 kills on 78 attempts with 23 errors.

Tressa Lyman led in kills with 10 and a .389 attack percentage. Mendenhall-Lee led in assists with 22 and junior Kylee Sessions led in digs with 13.

AGAINST SACRAMENTO STATE
Idaho State topped Sacramento State in four sets on Friday in Sacramento, Calif. Three Bengals - Alydia Fields-Grimm, Lyman and Marissa Todd - posted double-figure kills. Lori Mendenhall-Lee narrowly missed a triple-double with 37 kills, 11 digs and nine kills. She posted a .474 attack percentage with nine kills on 19 attempts with no errors.

Sacramento State posted a .176 attack percentage and were out-blocked by the Bengals 31-13.

ABOUT EASTERN WASHINGTON
The Eagles, currently ranked eighth in the conference, are coming off a 3-2 loss to Northern Colorado and a 3-0 loss to North Dakota.

Earlier this season, Idaho State beat Eastern Washington 3-1 on the road. Three Bengals - Alydia Fields-Grimm, Tressa Lyman and Makenzie Filer - all posted double-figure kills in the match.

ABOUT PORTLAND STATE    
With their 3-2 win over North Dakota, Portland State earned a share of the top spot in the conference. They lead the conference in assists with an average of 13 per set, kills with 13.82 per set and service aces with 1.79 per set.

Earlier this season in Portland, the Vikings topped the Bengals 3-1. In that match, Idaho State posted a .179 attack percentage compared to Portland State's .223. They were out-blocked 21-8. Tressa Lyman led Idaho State with a double-double 16 kills and 12 digs as well as three blocks.

LORI MENDENHALL-LEE
Senior Lori Mendenhall-Lee led the Bengals in assists over the weekend with 22 in the Weber State sweep and 37 in the Bengals 3-1 win over Eastern Washington. Against the Eagles, Mendenhall-Lee also posted 11 digs and nine kills on 19 attempts for an attack percentage of .474. She had four assisted blocks.

Mendenhall-Lee currently leads the conference in assists with 10.92 per set throughout the season and 11.30 per set in conference matches. Mendenhall-Lee ranks 37th in the nation for assists.

Mendenhall-Lee is tied for the all-time record for attack percentage with a career attack percentage of .310 and ranks third all-time for single season attack percentage with .366 from 2012. She ranks fourth all-time for career assists with 3,979, 1,168 of those coming this season.

CHAD TEICHERT
With 57 career Big Sky wins, Head Coach Chad Teichert has set the Idaho State record for most Big Sky wins in program history. With 97 career wins, Teichert could win his 100th match at the Big Sky Tournament next week. Last year, Teichert led the Bengals to their second undefeated home season with a 10-0 home record.

With 19 wins so far this season, they are tied for the eighth most wins in a single season. Last season, the Bengals won 23 games, third best all-time. The record for most wins a single season is 31 from 1987.

JoAnn Garavaglia holds the record for most career wins with 110 from 1975-1980. The 2012 Bengals rank third all-time for most wins in the single season with 23, the record stands at 31 in 1987.
